A Salute To Our Other Men And Women In Uniform
59
A Big Thanks
You know being a veteran myself, no one more than me appreciates the men and women of our armed forces serving to protect this great country of ours. The way they put themselves in harms way everyday to protect freedom.
The way they leave their loved ones behind, not knowing if they will ever see them again.
All the birthday's, and holiday's they will miss to be out on the front lines of war. I give you a BIG thanks for all you do.
The Other Warriors To Salute
Along with a BIG thanks to our armed forces, I just want to remind people of the other warriors out on the front lines, in harms way everyday and leaving their families not knowing if they'll be back.
And those warriors are your brave men and women of your local police and fire departments. Those first responders that we see rushing into a burning building, or serving a warrant, or enforcing a drug bust.
When we would running away from a fire or a violent crime, they are running in, to save and protect.
The Other War
Yes we are at war in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we are also at war right here in every city in the United States. That war is the war on crime. Drugs, murder, rape, fire bombings, white collar crime, blue collar crime, burglary. You name it.
Times have never been worse with crime. Desperate people do desperate things, and we need our police and firefighters now more than ever.
Everyday our police and firefighters go into action to serve and protect us. Right along with their young wives, their mother's and their children.
They were hero's before 911, on 911 and hero's today and everyday. And I salute you and thank you for all you do, for being there when needed and for giving up your holiday so we may enjoy ours. Crime doesn't take a holiday, it's 24 hours, 7 days a week!
So maybe the next time you see a police officer or firefighter, go up and shake their hand and thank them for all they do. It just might make their day a little brighter, and to know you care.
Happy Holiday's to all of you, and be safe!

Agreed!
It is good to remember those that are helping us everyday here at home as well as overseas. They certainly are appreciated! Thanks for the nice tribute.
We just don't say thank you enough, do we? Great Hub.
Couldn,t agree more. How much safer our lives are today, thanks to these unsong heroes.
The comic book looks as if it is from the 1940s 0r '50s which was the era of Crime Does Not Pay. The war everywhere on drugs has been going on for a long time and continues.
You are right in saying the police are needed more than ever to keep order. There are more desperate people out there because of the world financial crisis and the greed of banks that had to be bailed out.
A Merry Christmas to brave men and women who protect us for sure.
Wonderful tribute and so true. Too many of us forget or take for granted the service of our police and firemen.
K I think I have read all your articles, LOL, I came juts to drop by, how are you? Maita

I completely agree with you, the men and woman who protect us deserve so much credit and we should keep them in are thoughts. I myself would also thank Nurses Doctors, Corrections Officers, and Parole agents.

Great tribute to those that put their lives on the line for others daily for meager wages. They need to know just how grateful we are for the work that they do! Thanks for sharing!
So true! These brave folks are usually just taken for granted until we need them!
great hub
So true.
great hub kerry, I couldn't agree more and now that my oldest son is getting ready for the Police Academy I couldn't be more proud of him. I am truly grateful for all men and women who so willingly put themselves on the line.
We are grateful for all that they do.
A well deserved tribute to those in uniform, and those who serve others in any capacity. We are all neighbors in this world.
