Headin Out To Sedona!

Getting Ready
This Sunday the 10th of January the wife and I have decided to take a little trip out west. To be more specific Sedona Az. We also decided that neither one of us like to fly so we're driving. We figure you see allot more country that way, And as we're both retired now, what the heck we got the time right?
About 5 years ago we flew out to Las Vegas spent some time there, where believe it or not I actually won enough money to pay for our stay at Caesars. But anyway we played around there a couple day's then decided to rent a car and drive to Goodyear Az. by way of the desert. Wow what a nice ride that was, all the cactus happen to be in bloom and it was just wonderful. I highly recommend that trip.
Ok back to Sedona, some friends of ours are out in Tucson now, they happen to be renting a house out there for the month, they asked us if we wanted to come there for awhile and we said "why not we're retired!" So we're going first to Tucson for a few days with them, then head to Sedona, about 3-4 hours from there.
Where We Plan To Stay
Once we get to Sedona, we are staying a week at the Sedona Summit Resort. Never been there but it's suppose to be a 5 star resort so I'll let you know.
It has all the amenities, full kitchen, laundry, 2 bedrooms...oh yeah, did I mention that when we leave Tucson our friends are going to follow us to Sedona and stay with us then for a couple days, hence the 2 bedrooms. Didn't want you to think the wife and I slept in different rooms. :)
Anyway I'm going to be taking my laptop, where I go it goes. And I'll probably be updating our trip on hubpages as we travel. Hopefully anyway, depends on how busy we are...oh did I mention we are retired? So all in all it should be a great trip. Get away from the cold and snowy weather here. Really looking forward to it.
What We'll Be Doing.
I can tell you this, I can't wait to go. My wife retired in May of last year, and then in June I had total hip replacement, so that wasn't in her plans to become my caregiver. Then in December I called it quits. So she really deserves this trip more than anyone, she did a great job!
We'll be taking our time, making frequent stops along the way so I can stretch my legs, very important you know. Checking out all the different states we'll be passing through, and just taking in the beautiful sites. Maybe a massage, some shopping who knows.
From our door step to the resorts door step is almost 2000 miles. AAA has us going through parts of 5 states, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. Unless we pick a different route but we'll see.
So listen I have a couple days yet, you'll see me on the forums I'm sure before I go. Like I said I'll try to post some update hubs as we go and maybe some pictures too. Once I get back I'll do some reviews on where we stayed. I don't know we'll see. I'm retired you know. No time, just no time...... :)

You will absolutely love Sedona! It was one of my favorite vacationing places! Please be sure to find the Red Rock Vortex. It is known to be one of the energy sites in the world.(Notice that the tree limbs take on a spindly nature due to this)
The vortex is said to balance your male/female energies. All I know is I was one sexy gurl after leaving ;)
Enjoy your trip!!
Must be nice being retired and having the time to tell everyone so we feel awful about our not being retired . JK LOL, Have a good time and remeber to root for the Wings while away! And did I mention , i'm not retired. * SIGH *
HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!
hi K, be safe, and dont you forget the pics, Maita
I have always wanted to go to Arizona, thanks for sharing.
Seems like a heck of a trip. Hope you enjoy it and stay safe.
I'm looking forward to reading the hubs of your trip. Enjoy your retirement.
Sounds wonderful K! I hear it's extremely beautiful out there. One of the places to see on my "must visit" list. Hope you and your wife have a great time. Very envious :-) Looking forward to hearing about it. Have a blast!
K, I hope youre ok, stay safe, Maita
Great hub. Arizona seems like a beautiful place. I've never been.
Glad you put Arizona on your travel agenda. The red rocks of Sedona are a natural delight!
Sounds like an adventure!I've never been there but i'll have to start planning something to get there!
I was in Sedona a few years back, it was incredible! I've actually been twice now. Both times, it was late spring/early summer, so it was on the verge of very hot. I've heard the winter/early spring blooms in the desert are really something to see. Great hub!
Travel is one of my passions. I haven't made it to Sedona yet, but it is supposed to be amazing. I can't wait to see some of your pictures and hear all about your adventure. Maybe in another hub?
I'm glad to know you've been and were amazed. I'll look forward to your account of it when you write it. I spent a year in Arizona and it was a situation in which we were always out and about exploring. It was before Sedona became such a tourist mecca (1964) - it was an artists' paradise - but the natural beaury of the area is so breathtaking, it needs nothing else, though the resort where you stayed looks very charming! Glad you enjoyed it!
Also - the countryside around Vegas is a wonderful area to explore, full of beauty and wonder! That was a good route you took! Did you make it to the Grand Canyon, by any chance?
Sounds like an awesome trip. Look forward to reading more of your hubs. I found you after you left some lovely fan mail for me - now I'm a fan (cause I like your easy style of writing) - ain't that the way of this world!
I enjoyed reading about your plans for the trip and I look forward to reading about the trip itself (and seeing some pix, I hope!)
Love and peace
Tony
Ah...retirement! You are one of the lucky few!
Be happy, have fun!
I live in Phoenix, and have spent many a moon in the Red Rocks of the Sedona region. Oak Creek Canyon and Bell Tower are my faves but the region as a whole is a journey everyone should make someday. Keep on Hubbing. Blake4d
