Helping The Homeless, Recognizing The Heroes
60
Their Just Dues!
Any one who follows me knows that I am an advocate for the homeless. Doesn't matter if it's a homeless male, female, child, family or veteran, I am here to get their story out and to bring attention to this situation the best I know how....writing about it, and sharing it with others.
Over the next several days, weeks, or even months I will be doing stories on those who truly are making a difference in regards to the homeless situation. The unsung heroes that donate their time, their money, and in some cases their resources to help alleviate ones pain of being homeless.
I've shared with you the story of Bon-Jovi and how his JBJ Foundation is making a difference in his home town and all over the nation.
Also how Mr. Rob Reid from Vancouver Canada is making a difference there as well.
I would like to keep this list going so I will be researching and writing about many more heroes that maybe you haven't heard of. Possibly the house wife who volunteers at the neighborhood thrift store to help cloth the homeless, or the family that gives up their Christmas dinner so they can all donate that time to the soup kitchen in their city. Or the countless number of veteran organizations helping to find shelter for our homeless veterans.
I will do my best to recognize as many as possible. So I am asking for your help, please feel free to nominate any person or persons or organizations you may know that deserves to be recognized, contact me with the information and include a short story of how they contribute their time and I will do my best to give recognition to as many as I can. Also let me know if I have your permission to use your name in the article.
Check back often to pay tribute to these unsung heroes.
Thank you for your continued support on this subject. I appreciate it.

Update To Dumping The Homeless
A great quest you have set yourself, Well done, it's so easy for the homeless to fall off life's radar and become invisible to an uncaring system.
Some of our bigger Telethons and charity pushes tend to concentrate on an major issue of the day and force the attention...and money away from things and people closer to home.
Hopefully your efforts will help concentrate the mind on what is right on our own doorsteps.
I wish more power to your elbow !
Great idea. At my sons work (he's a computer programmer) all the people in his office met Sat. morning and made sandwiches and snacks, then took them to a homeless shelter. He had never done that before but felt really good about it. it sometimes just takes a lot of people doing just a little bit to make a difference.
Keep up the great posts on the subject!!!
I will definately keep my ears open for anything on this topic for you. It would truly be an honor to aide your cause!
Thanks K for your concern and continuous effort for this issue, Maita
K Partin, you strick me as such and honorable man! You write so well about the situation concerning the ever growing problem of homelessness, raising the awareness, and taking a stand. Now you are recognizing others who share your ideals! I find that very selfless. (A distinct sign of a hero by the way)! I think what you're doing is just wonderful! Thank you.
homelessness is a crisis that really needs more awareness,.. I commend you on the advacating you are doing. Featuring those that help is a great place to start, for it will not only bring more people together for the cause, it provides resourses for ones who are in need of help. There is a Veterans homeless shelter here in our area that does wonderful work, Veterans Haven located on Wayne Rd. here in Wayne. But since we live in the same area, you may have allready heard of it.
This is a great HUB I trust more like this find their way onto HUBpages.
I got to lead a youth mission trip from our little church here in the Seattle area stayed locally this year and chose to work as much as we could to help those experiencing homelessness and it truly did open our eyes a lot. The conversations though are what I feel I will remember the most.
Thank YOU for doing what you are doing .. any organizations/suggestions from the Seattle area needed just ask.
